My TV says “No signal,” what should I do?

If your TV says "No Signal" or something similar, this means that it is not seeing any incoming video on the HDMI port to which it is currently tuned. There are two possible causes.

First, your Race STB may not be putting out any video signal.

  1. Make sure that you see lights on the STB to verify that it has power.

    1. If it does not, make sure that the power cord is plugged in at both ends and that you have not tripped a circuit breaker or turned off a power strip.

  2. If the STB does have power, make sure that it is turned on. Most STBs have a light that is blue when active and red when in Standby mode.

    1. Press the TV button on the top left of your remote and then press Power. This will turn the TV off.

    2. Then press the STB button to the right of the TV button and Power again. This should turn both the TV and STB on.

If you have confirmed that the STB is on and your TV still shows "No Signal" then the TV is likely looking at the wrong HDMI input.

  1. If you have the remote that came with your TV, use it to check your available inputs according to manufacturer instructions. Race TV will always be on an HDMI port.

  2. If you do not have your TV's remote, you can use the Race remote to access the TV Input menu.

    1. Press the TV button at the top right of the remote to put it in TV mode.

    2. Press the small, black TV Input button just above the TV button.

    3. This will open the TV Input menu. Depending on your TV, that menu will work in different ways. The two most common are:

      1. Press the TV Input button again to scroll through the available inputs.

        1. Once you have highlighted the desired input, wait a few seconds and the menu will close, switching to the highlighted option.

      2. Use the arrow keys on your remote to scroll through the available inputs.

        1. Once you have highlighted the desired input, press OK to confirm.

    4. Try all available HDMI inputs. Race TV is most commonly connected to HDMI 1, but it may be connected to any available HDMI port.

      1. HDMI ports may also be named. For instance: Cable, PC, BluRay, DVD. Do not assume that named inputs are not your Race TV.

        1. Some TVs have you name the ports during initial setup and the names may not match any devices currently connected.

        2. Some TVs may "identify" a device when you plug it in. These TVs will sometimes incorrectly identify the STB as a PC or other equipment.
