There are markings on my sidewalk and/or driveway. What are they, and can you remove them?

Written by Network Operations

Those are utility markings. Before anyone digs, marking crews spray paint to show where underground lines run, like electric, gas, and water. It's a safety step so no one hits a line by accident, which protects you, your neighbors, and the crews doing the work.

The paint is water-based, so it fades on its own over time. We know it's not the nicest thing to find on your driveway.

Please leave it be and don't paint over it. Those marks are what keep everyone safe once digging starts.
