3. Managing Devices & People
How do I see which devices are connected to my Wi-Fi?
The Devices tab shows every phone, tablet, TV, and smart home gadget using your Wi-Fi.
Open the Devices tab from the bottom menu.
View the full list of connected devices.
Tap any device to see usage details or rename it for easy recognition.
How do I pause internet for a device?
Open the Devices tab.
Tap the device you want to manage.
Toggle the Internet Access switch to Off (and back on when ready).
How do I create a profile for a person and assign devices?
Profiles help you organize devices by person, so you can set rules, apply parental controls, and view usage for each family member.
Go to the People tab.
Tap Add and enter the person’s name.
Select the devices that belong to them.
Save the profile.
Use controls to pause internet, apply restrictions, or view usage.
How do I view usage history for a device or profile?
Ever wonder who’s using the most data, or when a device was last online? The app gives you detailed usage stats.
Open the People or Devices tab.
Tap on a profile or device.
View bandwidth usage, connection history, and other activity details.
4. Network Management
How do I run a speed test?
Go to Network.
Tap Bandwidth Test → Run Test.
You’ll see results between your GigaSpire, mesh units, and the internet.
Your results will include:
Download speed – how fast you can receive data (streaming, browsing, downloads)
Upload speed – how fast you can send data (video calls, gaming, file uploads)
Ping (latency) – how quickly your connection responds (important for gaming and video calls)
Note: It’s normal for your speed test results to be lower than the maximum speed listed in your plan. Wi-Fi conditions, device limits, distance from the router, and overall network traffic can affect results. Your plan provides “up to” speeds, and these numbers can vary time to time.

How do I create or edit a guest network?
Guest Wi-Fi gives your visitors internet access without sharing your main password or risking your network’s security.
Go to the Network tab.
Tap Add Network.
Name your guest Wi-Fi and create a password (recommended).
Choose if it’s temporary (set start/end times) or always available.
Share it easily; have your guest scan the QR code from your app.
How do I add a mesh/extender?
If you need Wi-Fi in every corner of your home, you can link additional mesh/extenders to your Race router.
Go to Network → Add New System.
Scan the QR code on the extender.
Follow the setup prompts.
5. Prioritizing Wi-Fi
What is MyPrioritiesIQ?
Sometimes, one device or activity matters more than everything else on your network. MyPrioritiesIQ gives you one-tap control to put your Wi-Fi where you need it most.
Whether you’re working from home, gaming online, or streaming a movie night, you’ll get a smoother experience, without the lag or buffering.
The three priority modes are:
Gaming Mode – reduces lag and stabilizes connections for smoother gameplay
Work Mode – prioritizes video calls and productivity apps so meetings run without glitches
Entertainment Mode – ensures streaming video and music play without buffering
How do I set up device traffic or device priority?
Not all devices are equal when it comes to Wi-Fi. Maybe your laptop needs to stay rock-solid during a video meeting, or you want your gaming console to run at full speed without lag.
Open the Devices tab.
Select the device you want to prioritize.
Tap Prioritize Device (or toggle the priority option).
That device will automatically receive higher bandwidth than others.
Note: Prioritization works within the capacity of your internet plan. If multiple devices are active at once, prioritization helps balance them, but it doesn’t increase your overall speeds.
6. Security and Parental Controls
What is ProtectIQ?
The internet isn’t always safe, but with ProtectIQ, your home network has built-in protection working in the background 24/7.
You don’t have to install extra software or buy add-ons. Every device on your Wi-Fi is automatically protected from viruses, malware, and suspicious websites.
Here’s what ProtectIQ does for you:
Blocks harmful websites before they reach your devices
Stops viruses and malware at the network level
Sends real-time alert notifications when a threat is detected
If ProtectIQ® blocks a website you trust, you can add it to your Trust List in the app.
What is ExperienceIQ?
ExperienceIQ gives you the tools to manage how your family uses the internet. You decide what content is appropriate, how long devices can be online, and when it’s time for a digital break.
With ExperienceIQ, you can:
Create profiles for each family member
Set time limits for homework, bedtime, or screen-free family time
Block specific websites, apps, or categories of content
Enable Safe Search and YouTube restrictions for safer browsing
How do I set time limits for devices?
Want to enforce homework time or make sure bedtime means “lights out”, not “scroll time”? With ExperienceIQ, you can schedule internet access for each profile.
Go to a profile under People.
Tap Time Limits → set allowed hours.
How do I block websites or apps?
Need to block a distracting game or keep inappropriate content off your network? You can set restrictions by profile.
Go to the People tab → choose a profile.
Tap Restrictions.
Choose websites, apps, or categories to block.
What do security and parental alerts mean?
The app keeps you informed in real time:
ProtectIQ Alerts – a security threat was blocked before reaching your device.
ExperienceIQ Alerts – a profile tried to access a blocked site, app, or hit a time limit.
7. Troubleshooting
I can't log into the app.
Don’t worry. Login issues are usually quick to fix.
Try these steps:
Make sure you’re using the correct email address and password.
If you forgot your password, tap Forgot Password? on the login screen.
Check that your app is updated to the latest version in the App Store or Google Play.
Still stuck? Restart your phone and try again.
I don't see all my devices in the app.
Not every device is instantly recognizable. Smart home gadgets like plugs, cameras, or TVs may appear as “Unknown” until renamed.
Solution:
Open the Devices tab.
Tap the device → select Edit to rename it.
Assign it to a person under the People tab for easier tracking.
My Wi-Fi feels slow.
Sometimes Wi-Fi performance dips for reasons outside your plan.
Try this first:
Run a Bandwidth Test in the Network tab.
Move closer to your router to see if distance is the issue.
Check if you're using Gaming Mode or streaming heavily (priority modes affect speeds for others).
Restart your router if problems continue.
Note: It’s normal for test results to be lower than the maximum plan speed. Wi-Fi conditions, device limits, and network traffic can affect performance.
ProtectIQ keeps blocking a site I trust.
ProtectIQ is designed to be cautious, but if a safe website is being blocked, you can allow it.
Open the ProtectIQ section from the Home screen.
Go to your Trust List.
Add the website so it won’t be blocked again.
My guest Wi-Fi isn't working.
If guests can’t connect, here’s what to check:
Make sure the guest network is still active (temporary networks end at their scheduled time).
Confirm you gave your guest the correct password.
If they’re still unable to connect, delete the guest network and create a new one in the Network tab.
8. Support & Contact
How do I get help in the app?
Tap Support in the Profile tab to call, email, or chat with us.
